Definitely one of my favorites as well. You eloquently described some of the unique elements of the tune. The simple (not much "heavy" to my analysis) music lover in me, was always so fascinated in the abrupt ending of the tune. No fade out. I hope that's not a spoiler...
@kfarrnd Thanks very much Kevin. Not sure if you've read the simple story of the "abrupt end"? John and the studio engineer were listening to the final edit of the song and Lennon decided on a surprise end and just said "cut it right there" at 7mins 44secs! We are missing just the final 20 seconds of the track.....:-)
