Martha My Dear by Slade

“A little curio of a cover for you this time and a kind of "Before They Were Famous"! Before changing their name to "Slade", the band had built up a good, live reputation around the UK as "The 'N Betweens". When they got a record deal their management insisted on a name and image change. They became "Ambrose Slade" for a short time, before finally shortening it to "Slade" This is from their début album "Beginnings". The song written by Paul, from the '68 "White Album", featured just Paul on vocals, piano, bass, lead guitar and drums, together with a host of session musicians on strings and brass.”
