This may be heretical, but I much prefer Ryan Francesconi's arrangements on this LP to the overblown work of Van Dyke Parks on the previous one. As such, I listen to "Ys Street Band" when I need an "Ys" fix...

@7r0773r I agree completely; I find 'Have One On Me' to be a much more coherent work of understated brilliance.

Especially in the wee small hours... The vinyl may be coming out tonight!

@7r0773r Although the comparisons with Joni Mitcell and Kate Bush are apparent there is a unique musicality which transcends derivation, an aspiration for the classical and folk experimentation which, for me, works astoundingly well to the point of a Romantically sublime sensibility.

Well said. I also put Fiona Apple in her family tree, but I think Joanna's is the most original and exciting voice in the bunch.

Joanna Newsom's songs are usually a pleasure to hear and this one is particularly so.

Sadly all I'm getting is... "Sorry, that jam can't be played due to restrictions by its video owner." :-( By the good comments here though, it definitely sounds worthy of a listen! Hopefully your Jam will be more co-operative with me next time.

@cyberspiel Erm, sorry about that. Works fine now. Give it another go.

@Bukowski Thanks. Tried again but unfortunately the same deal. I will look it up elsewhere for the time being, but thanks anyway for making the effort! :-)
