Aaaaaaaagggggghhhhhhh. I still haven't made up my mind about this album (after 20 years); it is either a stroke of genius or the biggest load of self indulgent pretentious clap trap ever recorded.
There is not a doubt in my mind that this album is, and will forever be my favorite album. It may be dark, depressing, and self-loathing, but it is brilliant and flows from song to song like no other album has done for me. In my eyes, it will always be the masterpiece
just saw the wall at the LA memorial coliseum. Also saw it 30 odd years ago at the Sports Arena.I found it awesome-my wifes' 3 word review-"He's got issues."
So true-I read that on July21, The Wall tour is playing on the Fields of Abraham in Quebec City. The wall is going to be 800 feet long. afleetingglimpse.com has the details
Going to see Roger Waters perform The Wall on July 1st. As political as it may seem now, I still interpret the album's story from a psychological point-of-view. I can relate a lot to the character of Pink, so this album has a special place in my heart. This song is especially poignant, especially during the last verse.
@Enish I'm really glad that someone has attempted a serious explanation of that album. After 20 years I still canoot make up my mind whether it is a work of genius or the biggest load of self indulgent pretentious clap trap ever recorded.
@Enish@Bukowski I do hope the reference is to the bird and not the c**t word. "Can-oot: A tropical bird that lives in the depths of brain dysfunctions, caused by marijuana consumption, that is believed to have cannabis feathers. Has similarities some-what of an owl."
@dutchzaphod You are a positive mine of information. It does not; I just have old fingers and poor eyesight (but I still have a great taste in music; 'Animals' now playing).

@Bukowski Well, my introduction to Pink Floyd began with The Wall - the movie. I was feeling sentimental today :-)

@Catherine my pink floyd introduction was Wish You Were Here (the album). Loved it instantly, and I've never looked back!

@curtywyshart Lucky you! I saw only the "new" version last year! But still - one is better than none.

@Bukowski I'm still rooting for Umma Gumma, Atom Heart Mother and More. But that's a totally different story. :)
Bukowski
@dutchzaphod You can root for them as much as you like but I'm still flowering with 'Meddle'.
