From the "rooftop gig" on the Apple Building in London, 30 January '69. It's a co-write between John & Paul, but really several different unfinished songs "cobbled" together!! Although they did collaborate closely to finish the final song. It's easy to tell who wrote which section. Paul's part being upbeat, optimistic and written about his new love Linda Eastman. John's being darker - he'd just had a difficult year. He'd been through a divorce, Yoko miscarried their baby and he'd been busted for drugs. His feelings for the band were also at an all-time low. Sadly of course this would be the final time we would see the band playing live. We think they really proved they could rock live. At the end of the session Lennon famously quips, "I'd like to say 'thank you' on behalf of the group and ourselves, and I hope we passed the audition!" This was the video we wanted to post - but it's restricted!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5Lkjt9kCxA   9
