The staccato voice could be depicting the woman in the ocean, bubbling at the waters surface before drowning ...chilling but amazingly inventive. Compare and contrast, oh, and discuss. As a kid I thought the terrifying male voice was the devil or the struggle of which direction after death (for someone of religious faith), or perhaps her fears...A for imagination?
