these guys, and this record (and the EP that came right after it, "slow riot for new zero kanada"), were a big revelation around 2000. have you heard any of dean roberts' relatively poppy stuff, like the "be mine tonight" record? i think of that as sort of a next logical step in the development of the sounds that labradford and godspeedyoublackemperor and low (who were also real important then, but their records have aged real badly) were making around this time. unfortunately the dean roberts stuff i'd really like to post to this site isn't available on youtube or anything else :P

I always thought the guy speaking sounded like he had a Native American accent. Don't actually know though.
