What I probably was listening to most this week...20 years ago (Part 1). From Spinning Around the Sun came Jimmie Dale Gilmore's second recording of this Butch Hancock tune, featuring one of my all-time favorite lyrics: "I would have killed myself, but it made no sense/committing suicide in self-defense." This performance actually is from around the time he first recorded the song a few years earlier...I prefer the later recording but also very much like this simple but elegant reading. (Album released August 24, 1993)
