I can vouch for the existence of Winnipeg...I've been there. As for the Winnipeg-to-St. Paul dog sled race in the film, I'm a little too young to remember that but I do remember the 500-mile snowmobile races between those cities. It is not true that most Winnipeggers put tires on their snowmobiles for the six weeks of summer.
@AlicejustMay Probably best tribute. And did I mention the Winnipeg couch? Not sure how it got its name or how wide its usage, but it's a small foldout cot that serves as a chesterfield during the day ... Grew up surrounded by them for some odd reason.
