@debutch It's one of my favourite things about the Velvets: you can have Hugh Selby lyrics, La Monte Young drones, Albert Ayler solos, but they all sound so much better over a Bo Diddley beat.
The VU are known as one of the most influential bands of all time yet it's intriguing to hear of THEIR influences, as you listed.......you certainly know your VU! I'm impressed. :-)
@debutch I have a fun fact to that effect: I was going to Jam a Kinks song before I decided to sort out my Eternal Jam, and when you mentioned influences on VU, it reminded me that Sister Ray was in fact named in tribute to Ray Davies. So that's another unlikely VU influence!
