@debutch I'd be more likely to start a cult. I need the cash! I wasn't here because I was finding it difficult to listen to enough of other people's jams, among other things. Thanks for noticing I wasn't here! :)
I had the same problem about "keeping up" with all the jams on here, so I unfollowed a bunch of people. Harsh, but at least I have 8-10 new jams to listen to every 3 days or so, instead of the 20 or more I was getting. I can keep up now! Sorry to anyone I deleted, it was nothing personal :-/
@Rocklobster I'm quite bad at that, although it does get done very occasionally. The thing is, you know a lot more about music than I do. I've learnt quite a lot from being on here and bought quite a lot of stuff. So I never know what I'm missing. It would be wonderful if someone could build an app for the ipod so that it was possible to hear & like things as a playlist while working. Btw is Last FM working for you? It gave up scrobbling recently so have stopped paying.......
@vanoccupanther You're the only other person I've come across who thinks that 'going clear' relates to Scientology. But LC did spend a brief period in the 60's messing around with it. I spent ages trying to think of an explanation for that word but I've only heard it in connection with the unpleasant L. Ron H. It may not have been quite so bad; 'did you ever go clear? holds out a tiny bit of hope :) People often get upset at the idea that LC was a scientologist though!
If I'm on Jam and don't have enough new songs in my playlist, I'll use the Explore function - if I fancy hearing something that sounds like The Magnetic Fields, I'll use them as a starting point - I've found new artists that way. I've bought quite a bit after hearing for the first time on here - e.g., Literature are on my purchase list at the moment. And I don't know more about music than anyone else, I've just been around a long time and my tastes change frequently. I binge on genres then stop.
Last FM's still working for me. Another place I've found lots of new artists (and friends) over the years. The playlist function on there (allied to Spotify) is excellent for discovery. I wouldn't worry about missing stuff, by the way - you'll hear worthwhile music sooner or later, and if it's later than other people, it really doesn't matter.
@alisonsghost yeah a lot of respectable people dabbled in Scientology way back when it was first starting out, l Ron, for all his faults could definitely be a very suggestive dude. He even convinced other influential writers of the time including the beat cynical beat writers like William S. Burroughs and Ginsberg to try it. So considering his age it doesn't surprise me that LC does have a Scientology connection, but I think it was more so just scratching a curiosity more than anything.

@philipnareike Funnily enough, I really don't like raincoats, especially beige ones. Or any sensible outdoor wear. So yes , 101 the creatures

The most heartbreaking part of this song is that she cheated on him with a Scientologist.

@Rocklobster......what's really funny is that I think this matters. Years of indoctrination, obviously :)
