calling this song a 'jam' or at least setting it in the context of a site that promotes the sharing of jam songs feels weird and maybe a little disrespectful given this particular song's significance to violeta parra's history. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Violeta_Parra#Gracias_A_La_Vida) i view and use this site as a tool to archive moments in my life thru songs i've been listening to repeatedly that have colored and complemented those moments. i like to look back on my ’jam history,’ see a song and remember where i was—mentally, physically, emotionally— around the point it was posted. in the short amount of time since i’ve become aware of violeta parra (i am curious to learn more about her) and this song, it has made me feel a lot and i’m sure it has planted seeds of inspiration in me that’ll somehow be manifested in my art. i’m putting this song here because it’s beautiful and maybe it’ll make you reflect and feel some things, too.
