I'm torn whether to like it or hate it, I studied JWG in great detail at the time, and i despised him with a passion. He had the gall to blame his victims, saying they asked for it. The song sways me though and I like that. Memories of the vile man though I could do without.
@alisonsghost Atleast Sufjan would be very glad :) artist long to reach to their true admirers. Not sure about Asthmatic Kitty Records., though, the following will eventually benefit them when economy boom:)
@jovisgoesnuts Obviously, we despise JWG but this song is about his childhood. ... I love this song immensely since I’m poetically confused. Well, let me tell you once I was writing a noir about a killer clown and JWS was not the reference, then I came across this song, I stooped, it brought a new dimension. Socially, he should die in his late 20 before he turn into JWG, which sympathises with the character who has a disturbed childhood.anyway:) I was really moved by the last line of this song
@jovisgoesnuts I know what you mean. The typical reaction of killers of this type. There is a book by the English author John Masters on Jeffrey Dahmer which is more thoughtful than a lot of the mass market books on serial murder and questions some assumptions about the perpetrators without ever forgetting the dignity, or humanity of the victims. I think Sufjan S, is hinting at the same q's in the songs last line....
@alisonsghost@bullu Couldn't agree with either of you more, I just couldn't miss the opportunity to vent my spleen over the maniac. I studied serial killers for twenty years until Andrei Chikatillo in Rostov on Don (Citizen X), by which time I could hardly sleep at night. I stopped. Agree about the last line too.
