Completely agree. It's like updating a film for modern audiences, sometimes the reason it works is because it never needed an update in the first place.
Well, the English version isn't bad per se, but much is lost in translation...

@PeteLaberge@Engztrom I certainly didn't mean to suggest that the English version was BAD in any way, just that the German one is better. I can happily listen to either one.

I first heard the English in a movie soundtrack, decades ago. I searched for the song and voice (in pre-internet days.) Finally found it. And when I got online, and found youtube, this was the first thing I sought out. And, some 4 years ago, 99 Red Balloons saved my life, sort of...

They needn't have bothered translating it into English, though. The original German version just sounds better all round.

I like both the English and the Original German. Nena's voice is..... SPECTACULAR! And Mr Engstrom's suggestion is very good, too.
