Yeh, today is my first jammiversary ( Wednesday) and it was on this day last year when I first appeared on TIMJ before going on to become the public nuisance & babbling baboon that I am today. This is the song I posted as my 1st jam & it received no feedback except one "like" ( which I was thrilled about!) and my introductory comments were minimal (can you believe that?) SO, I think it's time I made up for that a little....
This song is about Bragg's Dad who died when Billy was a small boy & I can honestly say that it's the most moving & poignant account of a family relationship that I have ever come across in song. It's the vulnerability , bewilderment & fear of Billy as a small boy that affects me so much as a listener & it's when he poses the 'question' ( straight after the line, " there's one thing I still don't understand") that even after nearly 24 years, still manages to REALLY get to me....
From the LP " Don't try this at home" (1991)....along with Portishead's 2nd , my favourite album from the past 25 years.......one for @lindatee. ( a big fan)

@melissapulo ...early 2012 & a friend of mine started a Facebook group called "The Shuffle Club" where several pals of mine & myself listed the best 6 tracks we heard on iPod shuffle, which we presented once a week with a few words added. Well, those "words" in my case gradually became more like essays! My waffling, especially my stories, seemed to be very popular & the club continued & grew. After another 20 months or so contributions from others began to slide & our weekly list became (Cont)
@melissapulo ...more like a monthly one. I found that there just wasn't enough interaction in it for me anymore & so I stopped. ... Early 2014, I was telling my daughter, Kate what a shame that was & how much I missed it & she informed me of a site called TIMJ. The rest, as they say, is history. :-)
@mikelowe ...She's already out of the country! ( Australia for one year ) Trouble is, TIMJ is global, I think, so there's no place for her to hide! :-)

@mikelowe If I remember rightly Kate was hounded out of the country as @debutch threatened to throw her out of she didn't love one of his jams - he was going for one of his silly records and bullying people into liking his jam, and when he didn't have enough, turned to (and on) his beloved daughter... ;-)
@debutch Aww, I like your Shuffle Club idea, but can understand how interest faded when you concentrated less on the music and more on boring them to death with your stories... ;-) We obviously have stronger tolerance levels than they did, and keep coming back for more... :-)

**It seems that I'm paralysed on TIMJ at the moment.....my laptop's being seen to at the computer funny-farm & my iPod ( which I'm texting from now) has lost the ability to post new jams or even listen to others.....but I AM HERE! :-) Hopefully be back before the end of the week...***
