A #sundaysoother for my 'Paddy-Pals' @paulgdaly & @kingofmen ( don't worry if youz don't like it, it's just a thought for yer! )
a soother indeed, lovely.
Love Richard Thompson and this is a great choice which Ive not heard for many years
Love RT. Difficult to pick a favourite but this and almost everything from Rumour & Sigh come close.
Beautiful song dave..check out the version on the recent acoustic classics disc..just stunning
Absolutely magnificent choice. One of his very best and we all someone exactly like that :-)
Poignant and a lovely jam - reckon it must have been you birds and bees gazing days in that avatar but fits very well in any case ;-) cheers
Love this song. Going to see him in September. Hope he sings this.
@roseyrhymes Thank you & glad you enjoyed it!
@Sid_Bonkers Thanks Sid!
@adrian4acn I agree with you there!
@lawrence35523 I'll do that.
@Axol I think we do! :-)
@soorajsoman haha! Thanks. You could be right!
@boozybluesy You're so lucky!
Lovely jam.. bees and all.. also completely new to me. Were there cows on that field too?! They must be very small. Cute nonetheless. :D
@Avante lol!! You're crazy, Birgitta! :-D
You should remake that picture and put em side by side...Can you think of one thing you would tell that golden-locked fresh faced young man???
I love the jam BTW - totally digging the series...any thoughts on extending??
@SheRa I would tell him to never change his ways... everything's gonna be alright! :-)...no , the next song will be the last. I have to return to the present day sometime or I'll be lost to that world forever! ...thank you btw xx :-)
@debutch...been out of town working so been out of touch and my stupid phone will not let me listen to your song will definitely catch up with you later
@lesakramer5 Sure thing :-)
More evil pop
@debutch You do know he's Scots right? Hahahaha.....anyway this reminds me I really need to sit down and give Richard Thompson the attention so many intelligent people say he deserves. I've always managed to avoid him. I guess I should start with "Shoot Out The Lights".??????
@debutch I'm also partial to songs of the "gypsy" life. In certain quarters my nickname is "The Tinker".
@paulgdaly oh, I only called you because of the Irish sound of the tune:-).... I didn't know he was a Scot. I actually thought Richard Thompson was English! haha!...Yes, "Shoot out the lights" is a great place to start. Also with his then-wife, Linda, "I want to see the bright lights tonight" & then solo, "Rumour & sigh" and "Mirror blue" ( which this is from)
@debutch actually he might be English --- I'm not really up on him --- this song could be a Childe Ballad, it has that feel to it. Yeah, gotta check him and Linda out. Some friends of mine go on this cruise http://www.cayamo.com/ annually and have seen him live and were floored.
Lovely, I haven't listened to any RT for a long time.
Wonderful pick, David! Are you the one in the avatar?
love the lyrics to this song :)
@paulgdaly Thanks for that link. Sounds mouth-watering. Not my wifes' thing so I wonder if she'll let me go on my own? hahaha!
@lindatee I'm pleased to re-introduce you to him , Linda :-)
@florencevibert Thank you Flo!...Yes , that "was" me in the avatar! I was 18 there in 1973 ! ( Up-to date avatar coming soon! :-) )
@colinflynn28 I'm really pleased that some of you have listened to the lyrics. They're some of my favourite in song. A beautiful, moving tale.
@debutch if she does, I know these two ladies who would be more than happy to show you the ropes. ........There is no way Mrs. DeButch is letting you go is there?
@paulgdaly Well, I'd have to do something so devious & so cunning that I would even surprise myself.........hmm, she's always one step ahead of me so...no chance! ;-D
@debutch Haha, it's doesn't matter! That IS you, younger but you at last ;-D That picture is very nice for the cover of an album, really!
