We in the UK became accustomed to Sixties group 'The Swinging Blue Jeans' doing this, and reaching a decent placing on the singles chart too. However, the 'Jeans' version gets nowhere near this, to be honest.
@leejohnson Interesting that. I've only ever really known Little Richard version. I've just listened to the 'Jeans' version and totally agree with you. Little Richard all the way!
Just another 'Beatles' clone-set, the 'Jeans' had limited appeal, and joined the growing list, over time, of travelling Sixties showbands, featuring one or more of the original members (but rarely all of them, and sounding decidedly ordinary 'live'). Such became the destiny of so many of the 60s Britpop invaders.
