“My mate and |I were most impressed with Gwenno's set supporting Stealing Sheep last Friday. One woman and a keyboard with a film backdrop behind her. Musically I was hearing echoes of early St Etienne, Broadcast and Jane Weaver amongst others. Lovely stuff.”

Mike's Music Interview Archive: Gwenno Saunders. She was in this '60s-girl-group-revival group called The Pipettes at the time, who didn't last long--and may have actually been too cute to live, if that's possible. I just noticed that she's singing entirely in Welsh now, with her lullabye-soft voice over driving motorik rhythms, and it's pretty nice. This interview is from 2007: http://triblive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/ae/music/s_537965.html#axzz3mOSJIJeZ 7
