#AutobiographyMix - Some songs are more about the moment they occur than anything artistic and this song is just the worst. The video is what this is about since it is *so* explicitly of the post-'Matrix' era: the hover-rotate camera work, the color filter, the slow motion, the smug self-satisfaction. And the song is nothing but the lowest common denominator of where post-Grunge was going. But I see myself and my friends exactly where we were when it came out. In our friend's basement, watching M2 (it wasn't MTV2 yet and showed videos), team-hating it and the immortal debate of If Scott Stapp is wearing Green Leather Pants or not. Us at that weird college-not-21 age. Jancee Dunn and Matt Pinfield Suicide Watch. Killing time. Good times spent together. Nostalgia and the like. This song is so dumb and the video is worse. But I can't help smiling when I hear it.
