Mini-FAQ

How do I share my jam on Twitter and Facebook?

When you post a new jam, there is a tickbox on the preview screen (just before you hit "post") to share your jam automatically to Facebook or Twitter. Once ticked, it will remember this preference for next time. More ways to share (including after you post) coming soon!

I can’t play any music, what’s going on?

First, check if you’re running any flash or ad-blocking extensions, and try turning them off for This Is My Jam. (For the techies: we do use HTML 5 audio, but cross-browser support isn't quite where it should be yet so we fall back to Flash in certain situations.) If you’re on a non-iOS mobile device, playback may also be patchy; bear with us while we improve the mobile experience.

I can’t post a jam, can you help?

Choosing jams isn't fully tested on mobile devices yet, so we recommend you post jams from a computer for now. Also, make sure you hit “Post” after previewing your jam. If that still doesn't work, let us know.

Wait, I only get one jam? Are jam stocks limited or something?

Yup. Your jam is precious, so choose wisely. (But change it whenever you want!)

How do I respond to a specific comment, or tell someone I know about a jam they might like?

You can do this! Just preface your comment with @username (like a Twitter @reply).

I know my jam is on YouTube, but it doesn't show up when I search. Why?

Some YouTube videos have embedding disabled (by whoever uploaded it). Since we can't play these videos on TIMJ, our search filters them out.

I chose a jam from SoundCloud or YouTube and the song name is wrong. What do I do?

Sometimes the jam-bots have trouble figuring out song and artist names from dodgy metadata; they lack your human intellect and get it wrong. You can click inside the yellow text fields to correct it yourself. If you notice the mistake after posting your jam, you can use the "edit" link on your profile page to fix it too.

One of the jams on my homepage won’t play, what gives?

Very occasionally, jams go missing. When you press play, you’ll see a pause button but no sound will come out. We’re working on taming these rogue jams that gallivant off — bear with us.

Why can’t I view my past jams?

We’re all about the now here at TIMJ, but being able to explore (and curate) your own and your friends’ past jams is also important. Watch this space.

Ack, I signed up with the wrong Twitter account. Can I fix it?

There is a round-about way to fix this: go to your settings page and connect your Facebook account (this is just temporary), then disconnect your Twitter account. Next, go to twitter.com and log in with the correct account. Go back to your settings, and re-connect to Twitter. You should be logged in with the correct account now! (You can optionally disconnect your Facebook account now too).
