Mini-FAQ

Getting the app

How do I get the app?
First you’ll need Spotify — create your account and download it here. Once you have Spotify set up, visit our Spotify app page and click "get the app" to install.

Is it free?
It sure is.

I’m new to Spotify, can you help?
Sure, Spotify's excellent help section should be able to sort you out.

Spotify isn’t available in my country, can I use this app?
If you can’t use Spotify, the answer is unfortunately “no”. However, we’re keen to expand our support for other platforms — if you’re a developer, check out our API, perhaps you can help.

Does this work on my mobile phone?
No, sorry. Spotify applications are currently only supported on the desktop version of Spotify.

Signing in

How do I sign in to TIMJ in Spotify?
Inside our Spotify app, look for the "sign in" link in the header on the right side (next to the logo). Click it and you’ll be offered the same login options as you use on the website.

Listening to jams

Why doesn’t every song I’ve posted or liked show up?
Because music on This Is My Jam comes from all over the web, occasionally people will post jams that Spotify doesn’t have in their music catalog. These songs won’t appear in the Spotify app, but we’re working on building a home them on the website.

I found a good playlist, can I save it for later?
Clicking "Add as playlist" will add that list of tracks to your sidebar as a regular Spotify playlist. From there you can save, edit, or share it as you see fit.

Why can’t I play my homepage playlist through this application?
We wanted to create an application that would accompany and augment your existing This Is My Jam experience, rather than just duplicate it. We thought Spotify’s enormous catalog and excellent playlist featureset would be the ideal way to open up the universe of past jams and likes, so that's what we built!

Posting a jam

How do I post a jam from within Spotify?
You can make the currently-playing Spotify track your jam by clicking the "Make This My Jam" button in the bottom right.

Why do I still have to choose something on the website to make a song my jam, can’t it go automatically from Spotify?
Because your jams are shared across the whole web — in places like Twitter and Facebook, and to people who may not use Spotify — the website is still required for posting jams. We hope to be able to make this more seamless in future!
