Poor Henry Thomas. He died in 1930 without knowing that his songs were revitalized (and stolen) by the likes of Bob Dylan, Canned Heat, The Lovin' Spoonful and The Grateful Dead.

Recorded in 1928 but going way back. A bull-doze is a doze of whipping with a bullwhip which in slavery and beyond was used to keep Southern blacks under the thumb. See the comments thread in this link for more information and the lyrics to the song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Qo9R5kDZWY 6
Thomas Henry was a country #blues singer/guitarist who often accompanied himself on "Quills", a folk instrument fabricated from cane reeds whose sound is similar to a flute or the zampona played by musicians in Peru and Bolivia. Thomas' style was the basis for what later became known as Texas blues guitar. You may not recognise the words to Bulldoze blues but you will almost certainly recognise the later reworded cover of this song which became very well known by an American 60's blues rock band of some repute :) Enjoy...
