Another one of David's power compositions, this time from the 1973 album "Aladdin Sane". This version is the live offering taken from his final appearance as the alien 'Ziggy Stardust', at the Hammersmith Odeon in July 1973. More on the 1970s musical history of the Odeon (now the Apollo) at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammersmith_Odeon#1970s.
P.S. My mate John, at the Bowie concert which we went to in Salisbury Wiltshire in June 1973, swears blind David pointed at HIM when he sang the line "Watch that man!" at one point during the number. We never believed him.
Well well, the chosen one? I do remember him as frequenting the D.O.K club in Amsterdam in those years. He was an almost holy guy for us all. What a party!!!
http://www.flavorwire.com/226984/david-bowies-aladdin-sane-cover-shoot-the-outtakes "A mysterious, clear liquid dripping from his clavicle" Doesn't tell us much. My personal take: the inspiration for 'A Lad Insane' was his brother Terry, who was plagued by mental illness throughout his life. I believe it is simply a tear shed for his sibling. Fan websites document regularly that Aladdin Sane represented the shift of the alien Ziggy to the USA, and the schizophrenia he would experience there.
bowie studied art like all good 60''s kids,we were supposed and expected to look a bit.....brick lane market.thank god those angel sleeves didnt survive.
Art was a must-do in the capital for sure. Out in the rural sticks, we didn't have any pressure on us to study art, nor much of a clue about exactly what it was as a subject. Clay pots, which cracked. Slap a bit of paint on some paper then make up what it was supposed to look like. Heathen yokels, the lot of us.
okay mr johnson---this is getting personal-----BOWIE EXPERT SIR,why no ''feed the world'' dancing in the street video, with that HOH BEIGE MAC?who owns it?the irish, whatever his name is. DO YOU HAVE IT BOXED IN YOUR ATTIC?

What's that thing on Bowie's collar bone on the cover of Aladdin Sane? I've been wondering for nearly 30 years now.

I mean nearly 40 years, don't I? Good grief, how can that be possible?
