This was originally released by Bowie under the pseudonym 'Arnold Corns' (the voice was Bowie's, but the visual mime for this "character" was provided by his good friend, dress designer Freddi Buretti), as the B-side to the single "Moonage Daydream" in the UK in April 1971. In September 1971 it was re-released, this time as an A-side, along with "The Man in the Middle" on the flip-side.
This version (which appears on his iconic album offering, "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars") was recorded at the Radio Luxembourg studios on June 17th 1971.
It subsequently appeared regularly as a supporting track to many 'single' combinations: with "John, I'm Only Dancing" in September 1972; on the reverse of the Portuguese version of "Starman" from September 1972; B-side to the US release of "The Jean Genie" in November 1972; and with the single "Looking for a Friend" in May 1985. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hang_On_to_Yourself

@rayhroberts We have to be a little careful about "Jam Spamming" on here though, Ray. Fan bases are better built up by "Following" individual Jammers via the button, and "Liking" individual Jams the same way, which consequently show up on your Feed page. It's the best way to spread yourself around on here, honestly. You currently like 21 Jams. That's not nearly enough, to be blunt. I aim for about 200 at any one time. Just some thoughts. :)
