Aha! Lee's record-buying spree continues with a cut from his new heroes! They release this single just after The Beatles' first feature film, "A Hard Day's Night", is shown in the local cinema. The excitement of going to see this obviously inspires the record purchase. Plus, the Beach Boys record is starting to wear out through over-use.
The fascinating 'plectrum-on-string' distort which opens this song is the bait, the Bobby Parker opening riff (as Lee would find out years later) is the hook on which he's reeled in. Not content with playing the A-Sides to death, all Lee's 7" vinyl B-Sides got a hammering too. Especially "She's A Woman". Fab. Out of the four, Lee is probably a Paul fan more than anything, but that will change over time.

This got to No. 1 in both the UK and the US charts, during the height of "Beatlemania". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Feel_Fine

I would join in with #MyFirstRecordBuys but I can't quite bring myself to jam Puckwudgie by Charlie Drake.

I like that listening to this track makes me "feel fine". It's appropriate. :)

So so Fine. Possibly the most distinctive opening note to any song !!
