@Richie3000 Oh yes - I know loads about ELO - such a great band - but like so many self destruction...I will always love my friends big sisters and brothers who FORCED us to listen to music and appreciate it:) Not just the stuff on the radio but
Traffic; Sly... gosh I could list forever, but growing up in where I did , it was a family matter - older kids thought us - I am grateful:)
@debutch You know the cool thing about TIMJ? No worries, no guilt, all love; we weave in and out of out lives/loves :)
BUT it is so cool to connect - you know I'm here for you:) My current song is for you:)
....( re; 'foxtrot hotel yankee')...and the touches of Tim Buckley/Big star 'weirdness took me by surpise. I only knew of Wilco from the collaboration with Billy Bragg ( Mermaid sessions) and I didn't expect an album like that. It really is superb. Thanks for the tip-off Lesa! :-)
@debutch Words cannot express how grateful that yo worthy your fab music taste would take me on and listen to my fav album then but - it makes me feel so good - my advice - it's complicated - listen to it a at least a few times as it so grows on you - and there is an amazing doc.... Wilco figured out out how to get paid for it twice:) Warner thought it was a POS... talk about DIY: DOC called I'm trying to Break Your Heart ( a song from that album)- I'm old school -listen song in order:) xo
@debutch oh and share with all your friends cuz I know my music and ths is a fab album - I'm old school it's an album meaning you should listen to it from song one to the last song, in order -but that's me being a music snob - didn't think you'd mind:)
@debutch so busy writing to you you just now seeing your messages - First -YEAH! If I can turn someone on to something I love - I win: FYI - when I say this is my fav album , I am so appreciate you took the time to listen, but you must (if I can be so bold) several times and in order as they, know what they are doing and this is an ALBLUM:) Sigh - I listen to once a week, and I get something new every time:)
@ debutch For example - just put on Kamera:) Or ANY song from Yankee - the trick is multiple listens... enjoy: Jeff Tweedy is a genius:) Think I'll fall
into that album now...lucky me:)
To all TIMJ friedns - I am embarrassed that I did not see one person of color at that live show I posted...My family is pre state FL,and I'm sure REM would be embarrassed - the truth is, the South is still segregated...I am proud that my grand parents worked with the WPA with Zora Neal Hurston, proud that my grandfather took me to a pre Forida State Plantation to show me slave quarters, proud that not all Southerners are racists..Please know know many of us Southerns fought for civil rights
@debuth my most embarrassing moment -I have met many rock stars, no worries, no problems - but when I met Billy Bragg, I fell apart - luckily, my bros (my boy friend at the time was a local super star, so had many rock bros )- held me up when I made a FOOL of my self ---I've meet everyone but Billy - for what ever reason, I literally fainted: sigh - he was so nice to me, when I was conscious - this was Bush elec # 2 and I just told him - sorry for being a puss bag: I will fight
@lesakramer5 Yeh, I'm raised on music that way too...an album's an album. It's an artefact that's meant to be listened to that way. Having said that, when I'm short of time & feeling a bit lazy then I do occasionally switch to shuffle. I like surprises sometimes....... I was amused that you fainted at Billy Bragg. Don't get me wrong, it's just that he comes from my part of town and his accent, his ways & his personality is so familiar to me....an 'ordinary' guy.....
@lesakramer5 .....but a really nice one too....so humble & down to earth but when you talk about equality & civil rights to him then wow!...Woody Guthrie is reborn!
@lesakramer5 ...btw, I've just ordered the "Uncle Tupelo anthology".....I know that's true about many Southerners. Some are the most pleasant & considerate people you could hope to meet.........you tagged me "debuth"? haha! :-)

I feel the same way about R.E.M. and I've always loved this song. Haven't heard it in ages either, so I'm really feeling it this morning.

P.S. Great performance. Makes me wish I'd seen them.

A great old classic song. Thanks,.
