I'm missing the connection to either footy or Germany

Tenuous I know... simply that the CL final next week has two German teams, so we're just doing German music for a week. Just a different way of picking jams really...suspect most of it will end being Wagner!

OK, I didn't know Boney M were German. I knew they were european. Good version anyway

@youowemeafiver Their producer and group creator was German, but they certainly weren't

@philipnareike German pop music - always a thorny subject. Back to the clavichords for me...

@mloup I think I might join you in celebrating German music next week...I'll put my leiderhosen on and think about it....

mloup

Bukowski

@philipnareike @mloup @kemiladashdot Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Ute Lemper, Kurt Weill and Kraftwerk, that's a good start.

@Bukowski Makes me think of Lineker's best (and only good) quote: Twenty-two men chase a ball for 90 minutes and at the end, the Germans always win. Same again at Wembley!

Bukowski

@mloup I love German culture; Brecht, German Expressionism, Marx and my favourite author Thomas Mann; but let's not forget '99 Red Balloons'.

mloup

Wasn't Nina Austrian? I liked doing Brecht for A Level, but Thomas Mann and his leit motifs got tricky...

@mloup @Bukowski Yes, but just don't mention the War..I did once but I think I got away with it..It's okay, I'm half-German myself. I can still remember watching The Germans episode of Fawlty Towers with my Dad..he found it hilarious...who said Germans don't have a sense of humour....

Bukowski

@philipnareike Classic sketch.

@Bukowski I know. Brilliant. @comedyjam should do it for #Germanweek :)

@mloup @kemiladashdot Wasn't the mad dude the son of American GI based in Germany?

7 years, 8 months ago

leejohnson

@kemiladashdot @mloup Original singers from Britain (x2, of Jamaican origin), Montserrat (x1) and Aruba (x1). Production, writing, recording in Germany. Just to be clear. ;)

@kemiladashdot @mloup And I don't mean Rasputin!

7 years, 8 months ago

kemiladashdot

@leejohnson @simonp @mloup Well that's the poorest start to German week imaginable, I cannot see it lasting the full 7 days:)

7 years, 8 months ago

leejohnson

@kemiladashdot Ah. If I was to participate, I think I would be stuck with Kraftwerk again. My imagination doesn't stretch much further than these (Fischer Z perhaps?). Think I'll pass.

Klaus Nomi???? Lord preserve us!!! 8o

7 years, 8 months ago

mloup

@leejohnson Aha! Thanks for clarifying
