This place. How would I go about putting into words what This Is My Jam meant to me? I'll just say this... The internet is a drag. A day-in, day-out beat-the-humanity-out-of-you drag. Some people get closer to each other through photographs. Some people do it through discussion of current events and politics. Some people just play games. And some people only like to spray negativity at anyone unfortunate enough to cross their path.
For me, music is the finest hello. But it only begins as a hello. The more music you share with people, the more you get to know them. This Is My Jam is the easiest place ever invented to do that. What Matt and Han made was a gathering spot—intuitive and beautifully and unobtrusively designed—that allowed users to take it from there. I've never witnessed an unkind word here. The enthusiasm and support and nurturing conversation was unequaled anywhere else.
I was a reasonably early adopter, and the site never fell out of my bookmarks, but it was really only about two years ago that it became a daily visit. I remember the first Jam Odyssey and what a surprise it was! And then the second! And then, about a year ago, I began really branching out and following people who hadn't already followed me first. I finally tapped in to all the tools TIMJ provided to get the most out of the experience.
I'd been discovering unfamiliar music since the beginning, but the amount of stunning and amazing things I've heard in the last year would hold most people for five lifetimes.
So thank you, This Is My Jam. And thank you, all the people I've gotten to know through shared music on a weekly or daily basis. Thank you for filling my stacks with songs I'll carry with me for the rest of my life. Thank you for filling my heart with the fantastic things you've said. I know many of us are meeting up at another place, and I'm looking forward to that, but This Is My Jam will always be my first love. Au revoir.
@mondosalvo Marvellous song to end with....your incredible variety of Jams has been phenomenal....au revoir and see you on the other places...long may it continue....

This Is My Jam was the most thoroughly positive experience I've ever had in 20 years of using the web.
