I might be wrong, but did you just put up a Wikipedia article on my recent Jam subject, Frank Alamo? The editor was a Ghmyrtle. Coincidence? If true, thanks for that, he deserved one. :)

@myrtle Ah, okay. Good example of putting two and two together and getting 22. No probs on the info, don't know why but I feel I have to say something about retro stuff, in case young'uns aren't aware of the history. :)

@myrtle @leejohnson The other day my wife was playing a song and the intro was like a Coldplay song I'd never heard. So I said,"Is that a new Coldplay song?, to which she replied, "No, but it's an easy mistake to make. Lots of people think Travis sounds like them". So what's your opinion on this?

@dutchzaphod Just listened to this Jam afresh. The lead singer sounds *nothing* like Chris Martin, so it's only an easy mistake for someone to make if they have little objectivity when listening to their music. Martin sells Coldplay for me; none of these boys does that for Travis in my case, good though they obviously are technically and creatively. Does this comment help?

@leejohnson You're right of course in saying that the singer's voice has nothing to do with Martin's Having said that, the initial 'mistake' I made in thinking that it sounded like Coldplay happened before the singing. The four chords making up the intro (I still have to figure out which song it was) were very reminiscent of Coldplay. I'll have to listen to a few more Travis songs to be more specific about it. I'll get back to you on that one.

@dutchzaphod Ah. The English saying may apply here: "Never judge a book by it's cover" - with the instrumental intro representing the cover of the book. Mind you, some "books" get slammed shut by me as soon as I hear the modern primeval beat, and the floor starts shaking with an overdose of tribal bass-fests passing for what we used to call "music". There - I said it. Aaaand ... back to the Seventies for me then! :)

@leejohnson @dutchzaphod Not wanting to get embroiled in your debate, but for what its worth, I'm not a big fan of either Coldplay or Travis but I do like this song! and thoroughly enjoy the banter it has caused by jamming it. Cheers!
