I had to like this, although I dislike 80's pop/new age. This song, though, for some reason, brings back those powerful feelings of teenage angst when I listen to it. I don't know if I like that or not.
I remember walking home from a depressing school dance, I was walking through Horner Park and listening to this on my walkman. I had my own little world for a few minuets...
I couldn't agree more @joeldurhamjr...I think growing up in the 80's surrounded by the torturous music made me a snob to most of it. THIS particular song is difficult to snub however. Great choice @onelovepictures!
@joeldurhamjr@dsimpson112 Thanks guys. Here's my favorite childhood memory of this song. My friend Roland, who's still one of my best friends today, and I were driving home from a party and I said "It was nice of your mom to lend us her car." And he looks at me and says "I thought this was your mom's car." Apparently we had inadvertently taken someone else's mom's car! This song was blaring as we cruised onto the highway. We still don't know who's car it was!
@onelovepictures That car story is hilarious! I've had many an adventure in a similar vein.
This song make me think of asking a girl to dance at a school get-together, and being told she was already with someone. I was crushed and wallflowered for a little while, then left early. Argh. How does hearing a song bring back not only the memory, but the FEELINGS as well? The power of music is one not to be reckoned with.

This reminds me of being in Toronto on the cusp of being a teen...they were mad for them in Canada!

@nickerrs74 I'm from Toronto too! They were huge here, weren't they?

Some people are Wham people, some are Tears for Fears. While I enjoy both, if forced... I'd be the latter.

@RainbowJugular agreed!

@joeldurhamjr ah man,,,school dances could really suck! I know, it's crazy how a song can just transport you right back there. It's kind of amazing!

Another in a long line of bands including "...and that other guy". Love it.

Epic story @onelovepictures! I just remember being into the more edgy music in 1985 but this song was always a guilty pleasure and still is.

@dsimpson112 me too! i was all about The Clash and PIL, Dead Kennedy's, The Ramones...but there was always something about this song...

Always liked this in a 'Guilty Pleasure'-way. Unexpectedly great guitar solo
