@_ben_ Yes, exactly. Cowboy Junkies version was what I knew as a young'un before I'd even heard of VU (hard now to imagine such a time) and I couldn't get enough of Trinity Sessions.
People should listen to the Velvets' original "Live 69" version - unfortunately not possible to post it on this site. Amazing - much slower, different words, full coda - as Reed originally wrote it, before it was rocked up.
@guyhamilton552 Nice, thanks! This is the version that the Cowboy Junkies sing, with the additional "Heavenly wine and roses" coda, which I used to think they'd added themselves.

We need to have a "love this" button. The Velvet Underground is one of my all-time favorite bands :)

@Amalynai yes! top 5 for me for sure. and Lou Reed is hands down one of the most consistently amazing songwriters ever.

Just bloody fantastic!

The Cowboy Junkies definitely have the prettier version, but the original is pretty tough to beat. Pure classic.

I really like the Mott the Hoople version of this song.

this is the one for the sheer guitar bliss of the intro alone!
