Controversial - maybe. It was perhaps predictable that they would choose something 'shocking'. to seem different and get ahead of the competition. But it was disappointing to listen to this predictable and very contrived effort from them. JAG (just another group). Now you see why I'm stuck in the Seventies! :/
@leejohnson Predictable based on what? And yes, it could have been that they picked the name to be different etc.. Bur seeing as both two main men are doing quite well in their main bands, and that they met and wrote and named the band and album in relation to one of them losing a parent to cancer very recently it seems that there is at times more than meets the eye.. : ) But by all means, stay in the 70s, it is so delightfully easy to just write everything beyond 1979 off as derivative...
Not everything is derivative. I find much that is refreshing beyond 1980, 1990, and even into the 2000s. But just not enough, compared to the Seventies, to devote a lot of time to. I leave you guys to do that! If that is the true story of how they came by the band name, then fair does and respect to them. I wasn't trying to be nasty.
