I still love listening to this, which may be my favorite Platters recording. This is their original 1958 arrangement, which my dad played a lot when I was a kid.

Different songs remind people of different things and sometimes they don't have to make sense; especially if they come from the fogginess of straining to understand things as a child. I remember the 1980s revival of The Twilight Zone was in my mind in the car when I heard this song, I was probably no more than four or five. Because of that, this song has always been eerie to me.
