Ben and Tjinder from Cornershop heard this woman singing at a temple and approached her to sing for them- she did so in secret, fearing the disapprobation of her community, and being somewhat unaware of the nature of the music her vocals would be put to. she sang fervent songs of faith and love and was surprised to have them couched in pop music surroundings. still she came to like the treatment, and after about a decade on the back burner, out came this great record. this is pretty much the direction I wish more modern pop would take- unique and transnational.   1
