A great Basher Lowe Anthem - and what is so funny?

Nick Lowe wrote this and it was the B-Side on his 1978 American Squirm single. It was credited to Nick Lowe and His Sound and it was actually Elvis Costello and The Attractions. Of course, virtually everyone was in on the gag, but to bring it home, Lowe posed on the picture sleeve with a guitar that read "Costello" on the neck. Lowe wrote the song tongue-in-cheek but Costello and The Attractions are nothing if not serious: what exactly IS wrong with peace, love and understanding?   5
