This album will be high on my end of year list. I can feel it.
Ahead of the big announcement in late November, this week the early bookies' favourites for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize were released. Leading the way at this point is previous winner Jamie XX, who is this time nominated for his stunning debut solo album, In Colour. Just one listen through of the highly acclaimed record and it is easy to see why the London producer is already the hot favourite. From the moment you strap on your headphones and hit play, In Colour takes you on an adventure across a series of diverse and perfectly crafted soundscapes. By taking highbrow extracts of electro, indie, old school dance and R&B;, Jamie creates an identity all to his own, mixing these elements together into a sonically breathtaking masterpiece.
