seems like the right thing to do given this weekend's 12-hours-of-kubrick-movies-at-the-drive-in-for-his-birthday event (by the way, john ashbery's birthday was yesterday...more salient for me personally). also, fits a melancholy "summer's closing" mood i'm in i guess.
Back in 1999 this was song that led me down the path of post rock following heavy late night rotation on MTV2. Serene, beautiful, haunting, mesmerising, this song has stuck with me ever since and is still my favorite Mogwai track (hotly followed by 'My Father, My King').
I had the pleasure of seeing them support The Cure in Hyde Park which cemented their position at the top of the post rock mountain for me, and will be seeing them again in 7 weeks time at the Southbank Centre in London as they tour supporting their latest album 'Rave Tapes'. I couldn't be more excited, in a subdued way naturally.
