“Since its Tramlines weekend,my favourite weekend of the year in my hometown, I thought I'd choose a local song this week. Thought of loads of Sheffield bands/artists who I could have chosen, decided on this, a song about my beloved City, sung by one of my favourite voices, also a song which it is almost certain I will see live this weekend.
Nat Johnson, the lead vocalist is not actually from Sheffield, but is an adopted Sheffielder, having, like many others, gone to Sheffield University and then decided to stay here. Something about the place.
I just hope that this weekend at least, the rains don't come!”

I'm meeting with a student tomorrow to discuss a potential dissertation idea about the social construction of Sheffield in the work of the Arctic Monkeys. Monkey Swallows the Universe's utterly beautiful contribution to the construction of this particular place seemed like a good antidote to "Red light indicates doors are secured".
