The Pines of the Janiculum by Ottorino Respighi

“I first heard a bit of Respighi's The Pines of Rome in the reissue of Disney's Fantasia 2000. It was one of the most beautiful pieces of music I had ever heard, so I stayed for the credits, just to find out what it was, even though I had three impatient kids with me... LOL! The Pines of The Janiculum is just a part of the whole suite, but it is one of my favourites and quite beautiful. IMHO, I think John Williams used this piece as the inspiration for his score for the first Superman movie, but I could be wrong.”
