Earlier this morning I came across a short video by Romanian animator Sebastian Cosor https://vimeo.com/33976373 in case the link doesn't work in my future (your present) it's two works of art combined to make a new one: “The Great Gig in the Sky,” by the British rock band Pink Floyd, and The Scream, by Norwegian Expressionist painter Edvard Munch. I almost just linked to that, but one should experience both pieces separately, and then see how Cosor brings them together. TODAY I LEARNED the name and face behind that haunting female vocal. Clare Torry vamped that with no notice and very little helpful direction. The band didn't know what they wanted. They just felt her voice should be whatever it was. She listened to them not know what they wanted, shrugged, told them to start recording, and threw down like a boss. Then she left with her boyfriend for a beer and chips! More people should know her name. Clare Torry: The Scream in Great Gig In The Sky. Wow!   10

In my opinion, this is one of the three greatest pieces of music composed in the 20th Century. Chills, every time.   2

In what may be the most stirring track on the album, Claire Torry was told not to sing any real words at all, and to think of life, death, and regret. The result is one of the most moving pieces of modern instrumental rock of all time.
