1973 protest song about the plight of young Native & African Americans regarding economic conditions and The Vietnam War. Americans from minority ethnic groups were drafted in disproportionate numbers to fight in the war. The USA finally withdrew the troops in 1973 but this was less to do with Smokey and more to do with the Viet Cong!
