13th August 2012. The date Spector released their brilliant debut album, Enjoy It While It Lasts, packed to the brim with feel good indie disco. Fast forward three years and one week later to the 21st August 2015 and Spector will have finally released their long awaited follow up, which we learned this week will be titled Moth Boys. The London based four piece have already released five songs from the record, with Kyoto Garden the most recent offering courtesy of a Topman open shoot. It's clear from all the tracks that have been released so far that this is a very different Spector this time around. The rousing, uproarious indie anthems that were a staple of their first record have been switched for more melancholic, more pensive pop music, which is always engaging and just as gratifying. However what does remain is Fred Macpherson's cutting, witty lyrics and his ability to stir emotion in the listener, making Spector as vital as ever in these days of vacuous chart music. Enjoy!
