Number one on the 1990 Festive Fifty, announced 30 December 1990. On air, Peel said that the difference between "Bill is Dead" and the #2 song ("Soon" by My Bloody Valentine) was only by a matter of a few ballots. This was the only time that Peel's beloved Fall ever made it to number one on the Festive Fifty in his lifetime.

Re-found this tonight! I remember watching this performance on "Snub Tv" many years ago, seeing Mark E Smith just walking around and around the band, and thinking "WTF is this???" It sounded flat and off-key, or just wrong! I had no reference points that I could use to comprehend it all. It's still my favourite Fall song. Sorry for the grainy footage, it is (like myself) over 20 years old.
