Throbbing performance from The monochrome Set. Does Foz's guitar look familiar?
'Joyous indie-pop' before that became a hackneyed term.
The only band I've seen that has walked off mid-way through the set. A friend of mine interview them for the radio show I worked on and the question arose about violence at gigs. The said they were lucky that they'd never had any and, as a joke, maybe they should incite a riot. Perhaps foolishly, they related this story at the gig and as an incitement, as a joke, the guitarist said "You are all fucking bastards". Everyone laughed. Well, all except one person who took exception and threw their pint glass, hitting Bid squarely on the forehead. His confusion and bewilderment were practically a physical presence. He threw his guitar down and walked off. There was a surprising lack of catcalling and jeering, but the guy who threw it was physically picked up and thrown out. The DJ came back and did his thing but none was really interested. The audience broke up and went home, disappointed. Oddly enough, not at the band. Anyway, they'd just played this track.
This is very Summery, so it will be good for when the Summer decides to come back.
