By far my favorite Pumpkins song.

I'll never forget the first time I heard this song: I had just bought the album at a little hole-in-the-wall record shop in Parkville, on Record Store Day. This song piqued my interest immediately, because I didn't expect something this beautiful from Smashing Pumpkins, and I've never been happier to have my expectations defied. I didn't even have trouble getting past the fact that Billy Corgan sounds like he's singing through nose plugs even more than usual, as he does on slower songs--nothing could tarnish my opinion of this song. The lyrics were both meaningless and meaningful at the same time. I didn't like the louder part near the end, but I did. It was perfect in its imperfections. Now I listen to this song whenever I need to be calm, or maybe when I'm already calm. This song makes me feel lonely in a good way--comfortable within my mind, at peace with everything. I love this album a lot, yes, but I love this song above the rest (and okay, it's on par with "1979").

Some staple Pumpkins (1995). Under-appreciated calm with a great build.   3
