Letter T in my #ABCofPunk (and new wave) is for Tubeway Army. Not the first by a long way, but one of the best synth tracks. Gary Numan lives just up the road from me and I've seen him out with wife and children a couple of times.

From The Old Grey Whistle Test 1979, #bookjam Based on 'Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep' by Phillip K Dick, about as roughly as 'Blade Runner' is. A favourite author, and a favourite film meet in a great song.

So here we have the first single I ever bought that had a picture sleeve. It wasn't the first single I ever bought (Daddy Cool by Darts) but that got 'lost' a longtime ago. I remember being obsessed with this song when it came out, and being thrilled when it got to Number 1 in the charts. Released in May 1979. This is the original version. If you like it you might want to see a much more recent reworked version here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22Z4Tv1zn-s#1979#bedroomvinyl#7
