"I'll try to hide, hide my sorrows /wonder can i hold them till tomorrow / Maybe ill hold them for a year / But they keep say / After your laughter / Now you will see those wet little tears".   1

Born Mary Frierson, she was dubbed Wendy Rene by Otis Redding. "After Laughter (Comes Tears)" – featuring Booker T. Jones on organ – was released on Stax in August 1964, and became a local hit in Memphis but failed to make the national R&B; chart. I first heard this haunting song in the extremely cool film Head-On.   1
