Got to thinking about weird time signatures and remembered this song was in 5/8 or something like it. A definite one-two-three-one-two rhythm is easy to count for the first half of the song. Got to reading on facebook and I guess this is called a quintuple meter. Is it weird to hear something like this in a pop song? It doesn't sound weird or out there at all.
