The March 2004 issue of @MOJOmagazine featured Brian Wilson on its cover, but its giveaway CD that month has a much different focus than beach music. Titled Mojo Music Guide Vol. 3: Raw Soul, it contains 15 nuggets that bear repeat play. Once you get past the big hits by the likes of Ray Charles, The Isley Brothers, and Otis Redding, the best song is this lost late-'60s Detroit gem by Little Ann. She issued only one single in her heyday; luckily, in recent years, a compilation or two (and a vinyl 45 by the Kent label) have uncovered the great "Lean Lanky Daddy."
