@thisismymistake Yes, I believe that was the original idea - 4AD would be a "tryout label" that bands spend a year or whatever on before moving up to Beggars Banquet. Of course 4AD quickly became a popular label with its own very distinctive identity and this ceased to make sense - in fact I think Bauhaus might have been the *only* band to move from 4AD to the parent label as per the originally conceived plan...

Wasn't it "graduated" back in the day, bands that proved their mettle on 4AD were allowed to record for BB?
